Working out has never been easy for me.. It always felt like every time I should be working out, something always comes up! I've tried everything - from working out in the mornings, in the evenings, only weekdays, 4 times a week, with a gym partner, by myself.. the list goes on. Nothing ever sticks! You get me?
So should I just say... oh well, I tried?
Well, I ask these questions: Why am I working out? What's the hoopla about the gym? Is it to get a 'hot bod' or see who's hot at the gym? Do I really go with the goal to improve my fitness and release stress? Or is it a means to eventually wear a bikini to the pool or a tight dress on Friday night?
However, most of us are not thinking about living a long healthy life every time we step inside a gym or unroll a yoga mat, are we? We aren't thinking about seeing our kids or grand kids in elementary or watching them graduate from college. But maybe we should! We aren't thinking about finally travelling to that one place with our partner or friends that we have "always wanted to go to but never found the time." But maybe we should! We aren't thinking about finally completing that one home improvement project we never got around to or finally investing in that hobby you've wanted to begin from time ago! But maybe we should!
You see, one of the biggest mistakes we make is that we don't see exercising as a means to get and enjoy the things that matter most to us! Being healthy allows us to see and enjoy life with our kids, and grand kids, or have the energy to travel and explore, or finish cumbersome projects and get to enjoy hobbies we like. A healthy body offers us the best lifestyle! Why? Because everything is linked. Without good health, it is hard to experience any of these things.
So when you boil it down, good health is key to doing what YOU want to do! Think about it next time you walk into a gym or on your yoga mat... because now, I am sure you will find yourself there!
