If there is one thing I’ve learned it is that every stage is a stepping stone to your ultimate goal.
Wait... I know it sounds super cliche but hear me out.
Sometimes we can want something, whether it may be – a car, a job, a significant other, friends, family, etc. We want to get to this final destination but we forget that the journey to get there can be just as important. The journey we go on can make us value that final thing more.
I want to encourage you that whatever you want, you can achieve. BUT try and enjoy the journey as well. For example, I wanted to finish high school and start college and be in the real world so badly, that I never really enjoyed high school – didn’t even go to homecoming, prom or graduation.
I just wanted to be done with it and be a college student. Then, when I got to college, I wanted to work in the real world and make money so badly that I never really enjoyed college – never put myself out there, joined many organizations, and didn't go to graduation. Just studied. But now, I am working in the real world, I reached my ultimate goal.
But the thing is – if I had just enjoyed all eight years and enjoyed the journey through high school and college, wouldn’t that have been better?
As you work on achieving more, why not enjoy where you are right now?
Why not enjoy your current situation?
Now, I can never get those eight years back but I can learn from them. So I don’t know what you may be desperately striving for or eagerly awaiting, but remember to also sit back and enjoy the view – because you may never get it again. There are different stages of our lives, you may think some are more important than others. But what we should remember is that the journey will ultimately get us to our destination, so why not enjoy the ride while there is one?
